ArmInfo. Armenia is taking consistent steps to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the country's energy balance. The Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia Ashot Manukyan stated this on November 4, speaking at a meeting in Tashkent at the 51st meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council (EES).
According to the press service of the department, Manukyan spoke about the development of nuclear energy in Armenia, the diversification of primary energy resources and the increase in the efficiency of thermal energy production at TPPs.
Presenting the roadmap for the development of renewable energy in the CIS countries, the head of the Center for the Development of Renewable Energy Sources at the Higher School of Economics of the Russian Federation Georgy Ermolenko noted that Armenia's experience in this area is instructive.
At the meeting, the results of the preparation of the CIS energy systems for work in the autumn-winter period of 2017-18 were summed up. The meeting participants discussed aspects of personnel work and training in the electric power industry, reliability of equipment operation and labor protection. The agenda of the meeting included issues of energy efficiency and renewable energy, updating the regulatory and technical framework for regulating the industry, as well as cooperation in cases of accidents and emergencies at power facilities
