ArmInfo. Within the framework of Turkmenistan's chairmanship, the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) Ashgabat hosted the sixth meeting of regional organizations of Central Asia involved in sustainable development and water management in Central Asia.
According to the press service of the Turkmenistan's Embassy in Armenia, more than 50 people from 10 regional and 9 international organizations accredited in the Republic took part in the event, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, including representatives of EC IFAS and its departments, SIC ICSD, IACSD Secretariat, SIC ICWC, ICWC Secretariat, BWO <Amudarya > and its units, BWO Syrdarya, the Regional Mountain Center of CA, the Regional Hydrology Center, the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia.
The purpose of the meeting is to unite the joint efforts, opportunities and plans of the regional organizations involved in the issues of sustainable development and water management in Central Asia to coordinate interaction and cooperation in promoting regional processes and programs, and to discuss the potential and capabilities of each regional organization in the implementation of ASBP-4 , REAP and the promotion of the environment for Central Asia.
Executive Director of CAREC I Abdullayev made a conceptual vision of the work and interaction of the regional organizations' site. The platform for interaction and cooperation of regional organizations, created and promoted by CAREC, has become a place of lively and interested discussions and discussions. Within the framework of the Sixth Meeting, a special session was devoted to assessing the implementation of the Concept of Turkmenistan's Presidency in IFAS.
Representatives of countries and regional organizations expressed their views on the submitted projects in discussions, discussed issues of regional cooperation, opportunities for its further development and participation in the implementation of joint projects and programs for sustainable development of the region. International organizations in their speeches noted about those programs that will contribute to the implementation of the concept of Turkmenistan's chairmanship in EC IFAS. Work was done to prepare the summit of the heads of the founding states of IFAS, which is planned to be held in Ashgabat in 2018 and preliminary drafts of the Central Asian Water Strategy and the UN Special Program on the Aral Sea are presented.
However, on the same day, the ceremony of signing two memorandums of understanding between the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), presented by the regional program "Transboundary Management", was also held in the building of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. Water Resources in Central Asia (TUVR CA)>, as well as the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and the Regional Environmental Center in the Center Flax Asia
Signing ceremonies were attended by representatives of the ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and international organizations. The main purpose of the memorandums is to provide support for strengthening water cooperation in Central Asia, to improve the socio-economic and environmental situation in the Aral Sea basin, and to provide technical assistance.
The parties expressed the conviction that these memorandums will be an additional impetus for expanding and strengthening regional cooperation, which in turn will benefit the residents of the Aral Sea basin region.
