The issues of cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the agrarian sphere were discussed today by the Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Ignaty Arakelyan and the Deputy Director General of the private sector department of the bank Christopher Tiem. According to Agriculture Ministry, Arakelyan presented the current situation in the sphere, development programs, as well as the main obstacles to their implementation.
He stressed that at present, focus is on ensuring access to finance for medium and small farms, as well as for the import of modern technology for peasant farms. Work is also underway to expand greenhouse and refrigeration facilities, to purchase organic fertilizers. In his turn, Tiem stressed that ADB is interested in multi-vector cooperation with Armenia in the field of agriculture. He stressed that the bank is also ready to provide loans and investments in the agricultural sector of Armenia and to cooperate with the private sector.
