ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan on November 16 during the session of the Government called the need for improving the process of granting construction permits, simplifying administration in the sphere and increasing the level of accessibility.
Prime Minister reminded that the World Bank's Doing Business report for 2018 recorded a number of problems in obtaining construction permits. The current situation, Karen Karapetyan stressed, negatively affects the development of the domestic construction sector as a whole. According to the law, the prime minister noted that these permits are issued by local self-government bodies, however the norms for their provision must be clear, predictable, and the decisions made are extremely justified. At the same time, the authorized body of the sphere is not provided with reasonable control mechanisms.
In this regard, the Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development, the Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and the Mayor of Yerevan, to develop and submit proposals to the government apparatus aimed at simplifying and clarifying the process of issuing construction permits until December 15. The head of government also called for considering the possibility of introducing electronic tools and defining mechanisms for monitoring the process.
