ArmInfo. The GDP growth rate in Armenia at the level of 5-6% is a good indicator. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated this in an interview with "Armenia" TV channel. According to him, Karen Karapetyan's government faces a concrete task - to achieve effective governance.
Speaking about the activities of the current Cabinet headed by Karen Karapetyan, Serzh Sargsyan said: "Yes, we did not set specific targets for economic growth to the government, as it is conditioned by certain issues in the integration processes, but I believe that Karen Karapetyan and his government themselves put and this is a 5-6% economic growth, I believe that this is a good indicator, 5% growth of GDP will enable us to take advantage of its results, which will be obvious and tangible, "he said. According to the head of the republic, the only formula for a good life is work, and the only way to prosperity is economic growth. "I think, in this context, the government is making great efforts to do this, we must do everything possible to ensure that the growth of our economy is palpable," he said. Serzh Sargsyan, stated that Armenia needs to produce more goods, create more jobs, "most importantly - high-paying places." At the same time, the head of state did not agree with the statement that salaries in the country will not rise in 2018. "The rates will not rise, but people will get more. "In 2017, too, there was no increase in salaries, but in October this year the average salary in the republic was 4.8% higher than in October 2016. The same the most will be in 2018. Thus, the growth, albeit small, will be, but we should strive to ensure that the growth of salaries is ahead of inflation, we are now within this framework," he said.
According to the state budget of Armenia for 2017, GDP growth is planned at 3.2%, but the government raised its expectations to 4.2-4.5% growth. Budget-2018 predicts by the end of 2018, economic growth of 4.5%.
