ArmInfo. The government of Armenia in 2018 found time to participate in the work of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, where key politicians of the time, heads of international organizations and famous public figures meet. On January 22, Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan will leave for Switzerland on a working visit to participate in the annual session of the WEF.
As the press service of the government reports, within the framework of the Davos forum it is planned to hold a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings of the Armenian prime minister with heads of states, international structures and business representatives. Karen Karapetyan will also take part in the meeting of the "Informal Group of World Economic Leaders" (IGWEL).
The previous - the 47th World Economic Forum was held from 17 to 20 January 2017 in the Swiss city of Davos. Despite the fact that leading business leaders, political leaders, prominent thinkers and journalists are invited to the meetings, Armenia missed the forum. Meanwhile, Georgia and Azerbaijan secured their participation at the forum at the level of prime ministers and ministers. Armenia did not use this important platform to present such programs as the construction of a new block of the Armenian NPP, the Iran- Armenia railway, so highly advertised for the domestic consumer. As the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Suren Karayan explained later, because of the workload, high officials of Armenia failed to take part in the work of the WEF.
