ArmInfo. The per capita GDP in Armenia and Azerbaijan is almost identical. The difference in the indicator is negligible. This was stated by the head of the Central Bank of Armenia (CB) Artur Javadyan on January 23 in the Armenian parliament during the hearings in connection with a significant rise in prices for certain types of goods.
According to him, there is a myth that wages in Armenia are much inferior to salaries in Georgia and Azerbaijan. However, if we compare pensions and salaries in the republic with Georgian and Azerbaijani, it becomes obvious that Armenia is in a better position. "We are inferior to these indicators only to Russia," Artur Javadyan explained.
By the end of 2016 per capita GDP in Armenia was $ 3532. According to the results of the year 2017, as ArmInfo was told in the Ministry of Finance of Armenia, $ 3,699 is expected, and by the end of 2018 the figure will grow to $ 3,985. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance expects that in 2020 GDP per capita will be $ 4700 instead of the current approximately $ 3,500.
