ArmInfo. Following the results of 2017 with mediation of the financial ombudsman, financial organizations paid compensations worth 181.3 million drams. Finombudsman of Armenia Piruz Sargsyan said this on January 24 during the final press conference timed to the 9th anniversary of the office of the financial reconciler in Armenia.
According to her, this amount was paid for 1455 cases, out of 1672 written claims, which is more than the figure of 10% a year ago. Consequently, 217 is still pending. The total number of complaints received by the conciliator's office on January 18, 2018 was 5020, of which the lion's share was 4368 against financial organizations, with an annual growth of 6.02%. At the same time, the overwhelming majority - 1358 - are directed against insurance companies (of which 80% are related to OSAGO), 270 - against banks, 15 - against the Bureau of Motor Insurers, 22 - against credit companies, 7 - against other companies organizations. She noted that 82% of the cases taken into consideration were decided in favor of the client. "For already a year we have been able to maintain this indicator within 80," P. Sargsyan noted, noting that 50% of the demands were met through conciliation of the parties.
Since the moment of the start of the Finombudsman Institute in Armenia, namely, from January 24, 2009 to January 18, 2018 inclusive, financial organizations mediated by the Finmudsman have been compensated in the total volume of 1.219 billion drams for 7517 cases. The total number of complaints over 9 years of work exceeded 20,000. At the same time, P. Sargsyan noted that on average 73.38% of the cases taken for consideration were decided in favor of clients, and 68% by conciliation. "I believe that this shows that the office of Finombudsman is able to work effectively with both financial institutions and clients," she concluded.
