ArmInfo. The Minister of Agriculture of Armenia, Ignaty Arakelyan, held a meeting on February 9, during which the Program for the Strategic Prospects of the Country (COSOP) for 2018-2023, developed by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), was presented.
According to the press service of Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia, the program, whose main goal is the development of agriculture and poverty reduction in rural areas, was presented by the IFAD program manager for North Africa and Europe Rami Salman. During the development of the program, the current socio-economic situation in rural communities of Armenia, obstacles to the development of villages, and the main ways to reduce poverty were studied in detail.
It was stressed that the agricultural development program for the future 6th anniversary was developed on the basis of the priorities of the Armenian government and is aimed at the formation of a stable and integrated agricultural sector of the country. It will also become a strategic guide for potential investors in the field. COSOP also aims to develop a mutually beneficial partnership between agribusiness and small farms, helping to create a favorable business environment in the field. The component of the program is the Agribusiness Partnership Program (APP), which is planned to be submitted to the approval of the IFAD Executive Board in December 2018.
