ArmInfo. Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert and advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Armen Hayrapetyan in Moscow discussed the issue of ensuring the phytosanitary security of the tomatoes supplied to Russia by the Armenian side.
As reported on the Rosselkhoznadzor website, in May, 450 vehicles with tomatoes from Armenia with a total mass of about 9200 tons delivered to the territory of Russia. At the same time, in 27 cases Rosselkhoznadzor found the inflow of infected tomatoes dangerous for Russia by a harmful quarantine organism with a tomato moth.
Earlier, the Rosselkhoznadzor, through an official request, drew the attention of Armenian colleagues to the need to identify zones free from this quarantine organism in Armenia and the supply of tomatoes to Russia only from the phytosanitary areas of Armenia that are safe in phytosanitary terms. A similar wish was expressed during the current meeting.
"Hayrapetyan assured the Russian side about taking appropriate measures in the shortest possible time," the ministry said. At the same time, the Rosselkhoznadzor appeals to media representatives with a request not to politicize the issue of deliveries of tomatoes from the territory of Armenia to Russia. It is noted that all aspects of this subject matter are purely technical in nature, aimed at the implementation by the supervisory authority of its direct functions in terms of ensuring the phytosanitary well-being of the Russian territory.
