ArmInfo. The modernization program of the Yerevan Thermal Power Plant unit has been successfully completed. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia.
According to the source, all the activities envisaged by the program have been completed. The unit resumed electricity production and successfully connected to the republic's power system. As part of the modernization program, which aimed to improve the efficiency and reliability of the unit, work was carried out on the modernization of the MXL-2 gas turbine unit.
Earlier, Deputy Director General for Technical Issues Arkady Gevorgyan told ArmInfo correspondent that 10.6 billion drams were allocated to implement the project. Most of them are own funds accumulated on a special account of the plant for the last 3 years. As a result of the modernization, the capacity of the unit will increase by 7 MW - from the current 220 MW to 227 MW, and the efficiency will increase by 1%, the annual additional volumes of generated electricity will be about 60 million KW / h. At the same time, the overhaul of the unit will be held once every six years instead of once every 4 years. To recall, the gas turbine power unit with a combined cycle of the Yerevan TPP was built on a loan provided by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation JBIC), and was put into commercial operation in April 2010. The power rating of the unit is 243 MW, the heat output is about 434 GJ / h. Yerevan TPP is a customer of Iranian natural gas, which is supplied to Armenia in exchange for electricity at the rate of 3 kWh per 1 cubic meter of gas. The last time the unit was stopped at the outage in June 2014. Then the cost of major repairs amounted to 9.5 billion drams, 90% of which were used to purchase spare parts for the gas turbine. Planned preventive maintenance is held every 36 thousand conditional hours of work of the station.
