ArmInfo.Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Acting RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan discussed gas supplies to Armenia in 2019, Gazprom informed in a statement.
"Today a working meeting took place in St. Petersburg between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Board of PJSC Gazprom, and the Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Grigoryan," the statement reads.
"The meeting discussed the course and further development of bilateral cooperation. In particular, they talked about the supply of natural gas to Armenia in 2019, "the report says. "The parties also considered issues related to the gasification of Armenia and underground gas storage in the republic. It was noted that the capacities of the UGS facilities are ready for operation in the autumn- winter period of 2018/2019, " Gazprom informs, RIA Novosti reports.
To note, Spokesman of Russian President Dmitry Peskov informed today that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed to step up gas negotiations, the dates are decided because the situation "runs out of time".. "This topic (gas talks with Armenia - ed. note) was touched upon yesterday. It was agreed to intensify the conversation on gas, because until yesterday we could not state active negotiations between our "Gazprom" and Armenian colleagues, said Peskov, answering the question of how the Kremlin assesses the stage and success of the negotiations. Speaking about the timing of the negotiations, the press secretary of the president noted that "there are deadlines, we run out of time," RIA Novosti reports.
Meanwhile, referring to the results of the meeting with Putin, the Acting RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in his video message that there is no decision on the price of gas yet. "Discussions will continue in working order. It was stated that for bilateral relations this is a very sensitive topic, and this is understood both in Yerevan and in Moscow. But in general, I am optimistic about this. I hope that in this issue there will be desirable developments for us, or in any case there will be no undesirable ones, " Pashinyan said.
