Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Cyril Muller, Vice-President of the World Bank (WB) for Europe and Central Asia for Europe and Central Asia.As reported by the press service of the Prime Minister of Armenia, the Prime Minister, stressing the importance of financial and technical assistance of the WB to our country, noted that the government is interested in deepening further cooperation and increasing the efficiency and focus of the programs implemented.
Pashinyan noted that the government's goal is to turn the political revolution into an economic one, and active cooperation with the WB can help stimulate economic activity in the country. Speaking about improving the business environment, the prime minister stressed that the government is committed to creating the most transparent and competitive field for business.
Cyril Muller, in his turn, called cooperation with Armenian partners effective and expressed the readiness of the World Bank to work closely with the Government of Armenia to implement further reforms and program priorities, develop the economy, including small and medium businesses. The Vice-President of the World Bank expressed confidence that the government's steps to fight corruption and strengthen democracy will provide a favorable atmosphere for economic development and progress of the country. In the context of bilateral cooperation, the interlocutors discussed issues related to the development of infrastructures, cooperation in the fields of high technology, education and health.
Nikol Pashinyan and Cyril Muller also touched upon the strategic document of Armenia-WB cooperation for 2019-2023 and the program priorities stipulated by the document. Armenia, is a member of the World Bank since 1992. In total, the WB provided Armenia with funds in the form of loans and grants of about $ 2.3 billion.
