ArmInfo. Armenian Finance Minister Atom Janjugazyan received a delegation led by a member of the Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB / ADB) Syurkan Ishak Qasim.
As the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Finance reports, the parties touched upon the prospects for expanding cooperation. In particular, the strategy of cooperation for the current year was discussed, as well as projects for the future.As Janjugazyan pointed out, the economic growth forecasts in the medium term are conservative, but the guidelines set in the government's program and its priorities make it possible to claim higher growth.According to an ADB representative, cooperation with the Bank within the framework of targeted programs and exchange of experience will assist reforms and capacity development.It should be noted that Armenia joined the ADB in 2005 and is included in the group of countries with mixed (concessional and ordinary) financing.
The Bank is addressing poverty reduction in the Asia-Pacific region through stimulating economic growth and regional integration. The funds of the Asian Development Bank are directed at supporting infrastructure, energy and social services to promote the country's flexible, comprehensive and stable development. In the field of transport, ADB will continue to assist in the construction of the North-South transport corridor, as well as in strengthening transport links between cities with high levels of poverty.According to the latest statistics on the bank's website, at the end of 2017, ABR implemented 52 projects in Armenia totaling $ 1.32 billion, $ 635 million of which were directed to the development of transport infrastructure, $ 172 million to city infrastructure and water supply, $ 152 million to finance, $ 142 million in energy, $ 140 million in the area of administrative management.
