ArmInfo.An Armenian delegation led by Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan in Rwanda visited the center of Smart Africa.The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that the purpose of Smart Africa, which unites 25 countries of the continent, is to ensure sustainable socio-economic development of the continent, as well as to create an economy based on the digital agenda and innovations.
The Armenian delegation held a meeting with the general director of the center Lacina Kone, who spoke about their achievements in the fields of e-government and technology, projects on digitizing the African continent, as well as the possibilities of applying the experience of other states in this process.In turn, Mnatsakanyan spoke about the agenda of intelligent development proclaimed by the RA government, at the center of which is the creation of favorable conditions for the consolidation of the potential available in the field.According to him, the inclusion in the composition of his delegation of representatives of the IT sector of the Republic of Armenia is another important step for a substantive exchange of views on the prospects for interaction and the implementation of the Armenian experience in African countries in the above areas.
The representative of IT sector of Armenia presented the experience of Armenia in the field of information technology, creative education and e-government, noting the importance of initiating projects to share experiences with African countries in these areas. The Armenian Foreign Minister also spoke about the preparations for the 23rd World Information Technology Forum to be held in Yerevan this October. In conclusion, Amalia Egoyan, Head of Business Development of the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, and Smart Africa Center signed a memorandum of understanding, which is supposed to implement joint innovative and analytical projects between Armenia and Rwanda, cooperation in high technologies and engineering, encouragement of university contacts, and interaction business circles.
