ArmInfo. It can be stated that the transport network in Armenia has not developed enough over the past years. Armenian Minister of Transport, Communications and IT Hakob Arshakyan expressed this opinion on April 17 at a press conference.
To note, this is his last meeting with representatives of the media in the current status, because as part of the optimization of the state structure, the department he heads will be renamed the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, and the implementation of transport and road construction policies will be entrusted to the Ministry of Territorial Development and Infrastructure.
According to the minister, to this day, the authorities could not provide the citizens of the country with quality movement. Nevertheless, the software implementation of the unified transport network has been and remains in the center of attention of the Armenian government.
Currently, those responsible for the field are specifying the volumes of passenger traffic. A holistic picture will take shape by May of the current year, which will make it possible to understand which vehicles, in what quantities and on what schedule they should work. It will also allow estimating the cost of passenger flows and the profitability of a particular route. After the competition will be held to determine the operators of passenger traffic. It is expected that a single ticket and logistics system will operate in Yerevan, and they will be available for purchase online. Vehicles will be equipped with the necessary equipment to determine their location and compliance with the established schedule. The introduction of a unified network is planned to be implemented in the framework of a public-private partnership. "In this context, it is not excluded that it will not be particularly costly for the state," the head of the Ministry of Transport said.
