ArmInfo. Electricity generation in Armenia in Q1 of 2019. amounted to 1 814.9 million kWh, with y-o-y decline of 14%, against a growth of 0.4% a year earlier. In March alone, growth was recorded by 9.3% to 628.2 million kWh.
According to the RA Statistics Committee, in the Q1 of 2019 for the same period of 2018 TPPs reduced electricity generation by 37.1% to 545.2 mln kWh, HPPs by 6.7% to 430.6 mln kWh. The Armenian NPP produced electricity in the amount of 835.6 million kWh, with y-o-y growth of 7.1%. During the reporting period, 11.1 thousand gigadjoules of thermal energy were produced, with y-o-y decline of 44.5%. Wind power plants produced 1.2 million kWh of electricity during the reporting period, with y-o-y increase of 50%. The volume of production of solar power plants amounted to 2.3 million kWh of electricity, which is 3.3 fold more than a year ago. To note, electricity generation in Armenia in 2018 amounted to 7,776.9 million kWh, with y-o-y growth of 0.2%. TPPs increased electricity generation by 17.5%, HPPs - by 2.2%, Armenian NPP - by 10%. Wind power plants reduced electricity production by 9.5%, solar power stations, on the contrary, increased 12.8 fold.
