ArmInfo.The volume of deposits attracted by Armenian banks in y- o-y terms increased by 12.7% reaching 2.979 trillion drams by April 1, 2019. For the Q1 of this year the volume of deposits grew insignificantly - only by 0.7%.
According to the Central Bank data, published in the report of the Statistics Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in the structure of deposits, the currency component increased by 13.5% per year to 1.791 trillion drams, and for the quarter alone - by 0.2%. At the same time, the dram component increased over the year by 11.5% to 1.187 trillion drams, with a quarterly increase of 1.6%. The share of foreign currency deposits in the total volume of bank deposits traditionally prevails over the share of dram deposits - 60.1% and 39.9%, respectively.
In the bank sector the share of residents attracted amounted to 74.8% or 2.227 trillion drams (with a y-o-y growth of 5.5%, and a quarterly decline of 0.9%), non-residents - 25.2% or 751.7 billion drams (with a y-o- y growth of 41.5%, and for the I quarter - by 5, 9%).
In the structure of deposits from residents, the share of demand time deposits accounted for 31.3% or 697.7 billion drams, while the share of call deposits was 68.7% or 1.529 trillion drams. Demand deposits for the year increased by 14.6%, with a quarterly decline of 5.9%. Term deposits increased on an annualized basis by 1.8%, and in Q1 alone - by 1.6%. Deposits of population in Armenian banks by April 2019 reached 1.470 trillion drams, an increase of 7.7% in y-o-y terms, and in quarterlyterms- only by 0.5%.According to statistical data, on average, interest rates on AMD deposits by April 2019 formed at the level of 8.99%, against 8.57% in the previous quarter and 8.39% a year earlier.
