ArmInfo. In Armenia, work started on marking the interstate and republican highways. The press service of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia reports.According to the source, in the current year, the ministry intends to use phosphorus markers as an experiment when conducting markings.
The first works in this direction will be carried out in the regions of Gegharkunik and Syunik. Unlike other markers, phosphor balls provide a stronger reflection, making it more visible even at night. In case of a positive result, it is planned until 2021 to gradually carry out similar markings on all roads of the republic.Earlier, ArmInfo, citing RA Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Hakob Arshakyan, reported that in 2019 about 300 kilometers of roads would be repaired in Armenia. "It is clear that we will not be able to repair the entire network of highways in the republic, this is associated with huge expenses. But, nevertheless, considerable work will be done this year," the minister noted.
The indicated 300 kilometers do not include the North-South route. The main directions of roads to be repaired are the road from Yerevan to the border with Georgia, both to Bagratashen (through the Tavush region) and to Bavra (in the Shirak region). The length of the roads to be restored this year, the Minister called unprecedented over the past 5 years. "Considering that as a result of transparent tenders, we will have saved money, these funds will also be used to restore the roads," Arshakyan said. According to him, the Armenian authorities will place particular emphasis on enhancing the country's transit capacity, and will primarily consider road construction in this context. This year more than 15 billion drams (more than $ 30 million) will be allocated for road construction.
