ArmInfo. The Eurasian Economic Union is an exclusively economic association, despite the often exaggerated opinions about its political component. Deputy Director of the Integration Development Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Gohar Barseghyan said this at the event "Five Years of the EAEU and Year of the Armenian Presidency: Realities, Successes and Prospects of Eurasian Economic Integration".
One of the priorities of the Union, she called the creation of favorable conditions for business, especially small and medium in member countries. Berseghyan voiced the "four freedoms" of the EAEU - the movement of goods, services, capital and labor. However, there is a list of goods in respect of which the regime of free transportation is not yet valid. This, in particular, is about alcoholic beverages, gas, oil and petroleum products, precious metals. "But the EAEU is committed to ensuring that in the coming years there will be full-fledged free transportation of these goods," said Barseghyan.
Gohar Barseghyan also reported that by the end of the year a single electricity market will be created in the EAEU, and by 2025 a single market of gas, oil and oil products will be created. However, she emphasized that the creation of a single market does not mean the definition of a single tariff for all, but only the definition of uniform rules.
Another priority of the EAEU, as she pointed out, is the digital transformation of economies: "Our agenda is not limited, as evidenced by the development of the digital agenda. Ideally, we are striving to create a single digital market of the EAEU and enter the external market by joint efforts. Last year, our heads of state adopted a document that defines the main activities on the way to the development of the digital agenda until 2025. In February, the EEC Digital Initiatives Management Office was formed, and a mechanism for the selection and development of projects was approved, which allows business and state authorities to send initiatives to the Eurasian Economic Commission within the framework of the digital agenda. "
According to her, more than two dozen proposals are being discussed today in this context. "Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan also noted in his message that the digital agenda of the EAEU is a priority for the country in the year of its presidency in the Union, as the RA has great potential and it is very important to use it at our integration platform," the Deputy Director development of the integration of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
To note, the event was organized by the research and analytical public organization "Integration and Development" and the Eurasian Expert Club.
