The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that the Austrian official at the meeting stressed the importance of deepening bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as taking practical steps towards intensifying economic contacts.
At the same time, he briefly presented the framework for the activities of the Ministry in which he works, while stating the Austrian side's readiness to deepen cooperation with Armenia in such areas as high technology and digitalization, and a number of other areas of mutual interest.
In turn, Papikyan stressed the importance of coordinated and active work aimed at developing bilateral trade and economic relations. The diplomat informed that all necessary conditions were created in Armenia for attracting investments, implementing investment projects, noting the importance of the presence of Austrian business in Armenia. The Ambassador spoke about the business attractiveness of Armenia, and in this regard, added that Yerevan, as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, enjoys the preferences of the trade regime with the EU GSP +. Moreover, according to him, a free trade zone operates on the Armenian-Iranian border, which makes Armenia even more attractive for foreign investors.
From the point of view of shaping the trade and economic agenda, the parties mutually noted the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Armenia-Austria Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, as well as bilateral contacts at the official level.
