ArmInfo. Over the past few months, the government of Armenia is talking about the need for legislative changes, about which programs should be adopted, but it does not clearly state the goal, for example, what we will have in the field of agriculture in 10 years. Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Artak Kamalyan expressed this opinion on May 27 on the margins of the "My step in the name of Syunik region" investment forum.
"I would like to share 7 targets, clearly realizing what responsibility it is and, possibly, Mr. Prime Minister will dismiss me from work," Kamalyan said.
Thus, according to the deputy minister, the ministry should aim to ensure that after 10 years, or even earlier, the annual income of each farm reaches 5 million drams, the gross agricultural output amounts to at least 2 trillion drams.
The third target is agricultural exports. Kamalyan proposes to increase it to $ 1bn per annum. Food self- sufficiency should reach 75-80%.
At the same time, according to Kamalyan, the agrosphere cannot develop separately from the village. In this context, he calls for development of the village. In this direction, he proposes to develop agritourism and build at least 10 eco-villages in the country's communities.
And finally, in the opinion of Artak Kamalyan, all this will be impossible to achieve if you do not finance agricultural education and science. "In this perspective, we believe that at least a third of the assistance that the state allocates to finance agriculture, we must allocate it for these purposes," concluded the Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
