ArmInfo. An innovative experimental SMART farm was opened in the town of Stepanavan, Lori Region. This is stated in the official report of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the source, the farm was built on the basis of greenhouse structures, which is an innovative method in Armenia within the framework of the program "Animal Health Management in Armenia and Georgia, phase 2" funded by the Austrian Development Agency and implemented by the CARD foundation.
Innovation is also an implemented system for remote control of cooling, ventilation, lighting and video surveillance of animals, which allows control over a building from a distance.
Program Manager Nazeli Grigoryan noted that the technical equipment of the farms and the places reserved for animals comply with international standards. At the same time, she noted that the conditions created for animals contribute to the improvement of dairy and meat productivity, and the introduced technologies - to save money.
During the event, RA Deputy Economy Minister Artak Kamalyan emphasized the importance of building such smart farms, expressing hope that Stepanavan's example would inspire other farmers.
At the same time, the deputy minister recalled that the program "State support for construction / reconstruction of small and medium-sized SMART farms and their technological support" is currently in the process, within which, instead of the planned 30 applications, more than 100 applications from different regions of the republic have been received. Under this program, he said, the state will compensate 50% of the cost of building smart farms. And for citizens who became disabled during military service or combat duty, and business entities operating in border settlements receiving social assistance - the amount of compensation from the state for the construction of a smart farm will be 70%.
