ArmInfo.A quite expensive "castle", which Yerevan residents can see when driving along the road leading to the zoo and bedroom communities, and which is associated with the name of the former governor of Syunik, Surik Khachatryan, is still not registered in the Real Estate Cadastre database.
On June 20, after the government meeting, Sarhat Petrosyan, Chairman of the Real Estate Cadastre Committee at the government, said in response to a question from ArmInfo. According to Petrosyan, the Cadastre Committee has not studied yet how much the real estate taxation on the chic palaces built by the former authorities in the Monument area are adequate to their cadastral value. But, as Petrosyan admitted, during his tenure as head of the State Cadastre, he repeatedly met premium- class real estate, which was not registered anywhere, therefore, it can be assumed that no taxes are paid for it at all. "There were and are former officials among them, but I think that the leaders of the community, whose legal competence includes these issues, should be consistent in their decision," he said. As the head of the Committee pointed out, the State Cadastre of Real Estate does not have the competence to bring unscrupulous owners of palaces to the legal field - this is the responsibility of the community. It is the local municipality that must use its entire arsenal in order to force the owner of expensive real estate to register this property. In the course of Petrosyan's activities in the State Cadastre, there are many such examples. He noted that some former high-ranking persons have already began to register their expensive real estate assets- mansions and palaces. However, he did not voice their names.
