ArmInfo. The investment forum "My Step for Tavush" lays the foundation for the formation of the program "Invest in Tavush", governor of the region Hayk Chobanyan announced on June 22 during the investment forum that kicked off in Dilijan. According to him, the main purpose of the forum and its subsequent work will be the promotion of opportunities and advantages of the Tavush region of Armenia.
One of these advantages is the nature of the region, its mild climatic and balneal conditions, which suggests a great tourist potential of Tavush. In addition to the Dilijan resort, there are other settlements in the region that may become attractive in terms of tourism development. For these purposes, the governor continued, during a year 17 new programs will be developed and implemented, among which the use of the Noyemberyan region rich in cultural and historical monuments. Another promising area is agriculture. Currently, according to Hayk Chobanyan, the profitability per 1 hectare of agricultural land is 200-250 thousand drams. Meanwhile, in case of growing intensive gardens alone, this indicator can be increased to 1 million drams. In general, as the governor noted, the agricultural sector is conservative and takes some time to return on investment. He also pointed out the richest possibilities of the region's forests, whose potential is practically not used, only in the area of fruit production, these forests, according to international organizations, are capable of producing up to 300 million euros of wild ecological products, not counting the additional benefits from their processing.
"This is a huge potential," Hayk Chobanyan stated, also pointing out the ongoing projects in the field of agricultural processing and organization of textile production. The governor touched upon the region's logistic capabilities. He, in particular, urged investors to pay attention to the creation of various logistics centers, as well as the possibilities of activating the airports of Tbilisi and Yerevan. He paid special attention to the community of Azatamut, which, based on its border geographical position, could become an important logistics center.
