It should be noted that in the first stage of the Lifeline Road Network Improvement Project (LRNIP). a Lifeline Road with a total length of 170 km was restored. Moreover, due to the savings of the project, it was possible to restore more than it was supposed to - the road with a total length of 41.1 km. Within the framework of the second stage of the financing project, it is planned to restore Lifline sections with a total length of 360 km (including 170 km of the main project).
Earlier ArmInfo reported, the World Bank will provide Armenia with additional financing in the form of a loan of 13.4 million euros in the framework of the Lifeline Road Network Improvement Project (LRNIP). At the May 2 meeting, the RA government approved the draft agreement with the WB structure - the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for signing. On March 28 of this year the World Bank Group (WBG) Board of Executive Directors endorsed Armenia - Country Partnership Framework program for 2019-2023 in the amount of about $ 500 million.
In 2019, Armenia will send about 20 billion drams (about $ 41 million) to repair roads of interstate and republican importance; with a length of 312 km, not counting construction in the framework of the North-South investment program and the M6 Vanadzor to Georgia border. As Armenian Minister of Transport, Communications and IT Hakob Arshakyan stated on April 17 at a press conference, in 2019 an unprecedented amount of medium and capital repairs, as well as work to fill the pits on the roads over the last 5 years, is planned. Nevertheless, to say that the republic in the near future will solve all the problems in the field of road construction, is not necessary. According to Hakob Arshakyan, according to the analysis of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) from 2015, in order to maintain the normal condition of the entire road network and bring it to the proper level, Armenia needs over 20 billion drams annually.
