ArmInfo. On July 2, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting at which prospects for the development of civil aviation were discussed, as well as problems existing in the field and ways to solve them.
"Today we have gathered to discuss the draft conceptual program for the development of civil aviation, in order to determine the directions of development in this area. Several times in the past I had the opportunity to say that in the modern world, having a national air carrier is an important component of state attribution. And of course, our goal and the desire is the presence of Armenian companies on the market. I want, that we don't confuse the concepts, since the systems and mechanisms operating in the past still need to be discussed, but the fact that to Armenia and from Armenia airplanes with the Armenian flag must fly, this for me without a doubt, another question which strategy and tactics, a road map is necessary to reach a solution to this problem ", the head of government said.
According to the Prime Minister, to achieve the goal, it is necessary to take balanced, thoughtful and consistent steps. "Our task should be to ensure the normal functioning of civil aviation. We must be confident that as a result of the decisions made, we will not have such a situation as in the case of Armenian Airlines and Armavia airlines, whose withdrawal from the market dealt a huge blow to civil aviation in Armenia. And this should be recognized. But, on the other hand, our strategic goal should be the presence of Armenian airlines that are competitive in the market, can compete with each other and with their international competitors. We must take balanced, thoughtful and consistent steps to achieve this goal. I believe that today's discussions are the beginning of such a path, "the RA Prime Minister stressed.
During the meeting, a draft concept for the development of civil aviation in the Republic of Armenia was presented, the measures and programs that will be included in the document will serve as the basis for developing civil aviation policies and related areas, defining the competences of state bodies, clarifying areas and functions, reforming the legal framework and developing a specific action plan.
The participants in the consultation presented their comments and relevant recommendations on the draft concept, on which stakeholders exchanged ideas.
Nikol Pashinyan instructed the heads of relevant departments to continue discussions on the submitted proposals.
