ArmInfo. Budget allocations for education in 2020 will increase by 18.9 billion drams - up to 145 billion 991 million drams. Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan said this on his Facebook page.
Part of the additional budget increase will be directed to a 10% increase in teachers' salaries. The Ministry will also continue the implementation of programs aimed at improving conditions in secondary schools. Schools will be repaired in 22 communities throughout the country. In the coming years, the number of pre- school educational institutions will also be increased.
To recall, on July 10, at a closed meeting, the Armenian government approved the program of medium- term expenditures for 2020-2022. According to the program, economic growth is projected at an average of 5% per annum. Growth will be mainly due to growth in services and industry. So, in 2019, 5.4% growth is forecasted, against the budgeted 4.9%, and during 2020-2022 it will be 4.9%, 5% and 5.1%, respectively.
