ArmInfo. On July 19, Armenian Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan received a delegation of the World Bank (WB), led by a senior agricultural economist and head of the working group Bekzod Shamsiev.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, during the meeting issues related to the implementation of the second stage of the Community Agriculture Resource Management and Competitiveness Project (CARMAC 2) and the grant program the Agricultural Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Capacity Building Project (APMECB PHRD) were discussed.
Representatives of the World Bank noted that the main objective of the mission is to monitor the activities related to the implementation of the agreements reached during the May mission, as well as with the implementation of these programs. Parties pointed to the need to make efforts to increase the expected results of the program "Second Community Agriculture Resource Management and Competitiveness Project (CARMAC 2) and more efficient use of resources.
Tigran Khachatryan and the WB team agreed to bring the program into line with the strategy currently being developed in the agricultural sector. An agreement has also been reached on the exchange of views on land use and the fight against infections.
In February 2018, ArmInfo reported that the Agricultural Development Fund launched Second Community Agriculture Resource Management and Competitiveness Project (CARMAC 2) . The program started in 2015 and is aimed at promoting the agro-processing industry. In particular, the matter concerns the processing of fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, the production of dairy products, honey, the cultivation of valuable berries, etc.
To recall, Armenia has been a member of the World Bank since 1992. In total, the WB provided Armenia with funds in the form of loans and grants for $ 2.3 billion. As a rule, a third of these funds is spent on reimbursing the budget deficit and another third - to finance infrastructure projects. On March 28 of the current year, the Board of Directors of the World Bank approved a new credit line of $ 500 million for Armenia to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth and improve the welfare of the country's population within the framework of the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for 2019-2023. In order to overcome poverty and stimulate general welfare, the WB, through the CPF, intends to assist Armenia in three areas - stimulation of export and competitiveness of enterprises, development of human capital and equality, sustainable management of the environment and natural resources.
