ArmInfo. In Armenia, in the first half of 2019, 3,642.8 million kWh of electricity were generated, with a y-o-y decline of 5.5%, against growth of 1.5% for the same period in 2018. According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia electricity generation in June alone increased by 11.8% to 644.4 million kWh.
In the first half of 2019, TPPs reduced electricity generation by 25.9% per annum - to 1,089.5 million kWh. At the same time, hydropower plants increased electricity generation by 8.3% - up to 1,341.9 million kWh. During the reporting period, the Armenian NPP generated electricity in the amount of 1 203.5 million kWh, with a y-o-y growth of 5.5%. During the reporting period 15.2 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy with a y-o-y decline of 36.7% was generated. Wind power plants produced 1.8 million kWh of electricity during the reporting period, increasing the volume in y-o-y terms by 1.8-fold, solar- 6.1 million kWh of electricity, with a 3-fold y-o-y growth.
To note, the generation of electricity in Armenia in 2018 amounted to 7,776.9 million kWh, with a y-o-y growth of 0.2%. Thermal power plants increased electricity generation by 17.5%, hydroelectric power stations - by 2.2%, Armenian nuclear power plant - by 10%. Wind power plants reduced power generation by 9.5%, solar power plants, in contrast, increased 12.8-fold.
