ArmInfo. The metallurgical industry of Armenia in the first half of 2019 showed a decline of 3.7%, against the 15.3% decline for the same period of 2018. According to the RA Statcommittee, in the first half of the year, ferromolybdenum production in Armenia increased by 5.4% per annum, amounting to 3,722 tons, against the growth of 2.4% a year earlier. In June alone, 674 tons of ferromolybdenum were produced, which was 1.7% more than the May volume.
In the first half of the year, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 28.3% per annum - up to 6,991 tons, against a decline of 3% a year earlier. In June alone, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 10.6% to 1,440 tons. Copper concentrate production decreased by 3.6% - to 161.5 thousand tons, against the decline of 18.6% a year earlier. On a monthly basis, copper concentrate production increased by 10.7% to 35.1 thousand tons. Zinc concentrate production decreased during the reporting period by 9.3% per annum - up to 5,417 tons, against a 30.7% growth a year earlier. In June, zinc concentrate production decreased by 11.1% to 886 tons. The production of aluminum foil during the reporting period decreased by 5.8% per annum - to 15,338 tons, against the 3.2% growth a year earlier. At the same time, in June the volume of aluminum foil production decreased by 16.7% to 2,250 tons. Steel pipe production in the reporting period decreased by 21.5% per annum - to 6,415.9 tons (against growth of 0.3% a year earlier), and only in June a decline of 31.1% was recorded - up to 853.6 tons.
Data on the production of molybdenum briquettes, converter (draft) copper and aluminum rolled products are not available in the statistics of the reporting period. All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA. Recall that the metallurgical industry of Armenia in 2018 reduced the volume of production by 23% per annum, against the 11.3% growth in 2017. In particular, ferromolybdenum production increased by 10.4%, molybdenum concentrate - by 1.4%, copper concentrate - by 25.9%, zinc concentrate - by 12.3%. At the same time, the production of aluminum foil decreased by 14.5%, aluminum rolled products - by 69.8%, steel pipes - by 3.5%, converter (blister) copper - by 26.7%.
