ArmInfo. The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in the first half of 2019 compared to the same period of the last year decreased by 57.5% to 6 121.5 thousand tons, against the growth of 12.1% a year earlier.
According to the data of the Statistical Committee of the RA, of the total volume 62.3%, or 3,816 thousand tons, accounted for road transport, which is 68.6% less than the indicator a year ago.
According to statistical data, rail freight transportation during the reporting period decreased by 0.3% - to 1,430.6 thousand tons. Air transportation, on the contrary, increased by 38% to 10.9 thousand tons. 864 thousand tons of natural gas was delivered via the main pipeline, which is 3.3% more than the indicator a year ago. Cargo turnover increased by 4.8% - up to 2 176.3 million tons-km. Passenger traffic during the reporting period increased by 3.6% to 94 751.3 thousand people, against a decline of 7.5% a year earlier. In particular, road transportation increased by 3.1% to 80 951.9 thousand people, rail transportation - by 12% - to 178.8 thousand people, air transportation - by 28.2% to 1551.6 thousand people. Electric passenger transportation increased by 4.3% to 12,069 thousand people. Passenger traffic increased by 2.4% - up to 1 219.8 million passenger-km.
