ArmInfo.Over the past 15 months to finance the state budget deficit in Armenia, $ 77.9 million was raised from external sources. This is stated in the message of the Center for Economic Development Initiatives.
At the same time, according to the source, $ 78.8 million was allocated for repayment of loans and borrowings during the reporting period. Moreover, the external public debt of Armenia decreased by $ 118.6 million or by 2.1%. Over this period, the external debt of the Central Bank of Armenia decreased by $ 85.4 million, and the Government - by $ 32.9 million. In the currency structure of external public debt, the debts of both the Central Bank and the Government of Armenia increased slightly, and the share of debt in special drawing rights (SDR), in contrast, declined. At the same time, over the past 15 months, the SDR depreciated against the US dollar by 4.6%, and in the case of the euro, the depreciation amounted to 8.3%. Thus, the Center's specialists note that the decrease in the external public debt of Armenia by almost $ 120 million for the reporting period was due to the depreciation of special drawing rights in relation to the US dollar and the repayment of the external debt of the Central Bank of Armenia.
It should be noted that, according to the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia, in the first half of 2019, the external debt of Armenia decreased by 1.4% to $ 5.5 billion (2.6 trillion drams), while the domestic debt grew by 6.3% to $ 1.5 billion (705.1 billion drams), as a result, the total public debt increased by only 0.2%, not moving from the score of $ 6.9 billion (3.3 trillion drams). In particular, the external debt of the government decreased by 1% in the first half of 2019 to $ 4.9 billion, while the external debt of the Central Bank of Armenia fell by 4.5% to $ 525 million
