ArmInfo. The State Revenue Committee has collected enough materials to initiate a criminal case regarding abuses in the process of purchasing cash registers in 2017 - 2018. Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia Edward Hovhannisyan stated on August 13 at a meeting with reporters.
On August 7, 2019, the State Revenue Committee announced that a criminal case was opened on the fact of abuses committed in the process of purchasing cash registers by "Office for the implementation of cash registers" state non-profit organization (SNCO) during 2017-2018. As a result of the operational-search work of the relevant department of the State Revenue Service, it was revealed that in accordance with the concluded agreement between the "Office for the introduction of cash registers" SNCO and the "Fax Technology Limited" company registered in the PRC, a total of 25 thousand Pax S 900 model cash registers were delivered to the SNCO, the contractual value of which was framed above the real one. "In fact, the Government of the Republic of Armenia allocated more money for the purchase of cash registers, which was an unprofitable transaction for the Republic of Armenia.By the fact of causing substantial damage to the legitimate interests of the state by former officials, a criminal case has been instituted under the relevant article of the RA Criminal Code," the SRC statement said.
According to Edward Hovhannisyan, it's too early to say today whether this is due to negligence or corruption. "In any case, the information received was sufficient to give the following assessment: the transaction was conducted with abuses." The preliminary investigation will give answers to the remaining questions, "he said.
Hovhannisyan refrained from providing details of the case, without also indicating the amount of the transaction, emphasizing that an investigation is underway and this information is not subject to disclosure.
