ArmInfo.French company Thales Group is considering several areas for cooperation in high technology with the Armenian ecosystem. Paul Remi, Vice Director and Regional Director of Thales Group, stated summing up the results of the two-day visit to Armenia at the invitation of the RA President.
"We were very encouraged by the opportunities in the field of electronic testing, and we saw quite interesting approaches in the field of artificial intelligence," he said, stressing that the company sees good prospects from the point of view of cooperation with Armenia. In this regard, he added that serious work needs to be done in identifying priority areas of cooperation.
In addition, the Regional Director of Thales Group noted that Armenia, being a small country, has enough resources in terms of human capital. <As a high-tech company, we see Armenia as a large market. The country has a strong educational and technological foundation. For a company like ours this is an advantage''," Paul Remi said.
At the same time, he noted that the purpose of the visit to Armenia was to collect information created by the working group to identify priority areas in which the company could be represented in Armenia. ''This is very important. We are optimistic. In the near future, we will provide all the information to our CEO in order to take further steps'', the Regional Director said.
According to the source, during the two-day visit, the Thales Group delegation held a number of meetings with the ministers of economy, education, science, culture and sports, those officials responsible for high technology, representatives of technology and innovation companies, and discussed areas and prospects for cooperation.
To recall, the Thales Group is an international industrial group that produces information systems for aerospace, military and marine application. The company was founded in 1892. The head office is located in the city of Neuilly-sur-Seine near Paris. It has offices in more than 50 countries and employs about 68 thousand people. Thales is third in the world for the production of airborne radar stations and electronic warfare systems. It produces a significant part of the components of on-board electronic equipment for military aviation. The company produces containers with equipment for laser illumination of targets, surveillance and sighting systems for aircraft, ships and tanks, reconnaissance day and night TV cameras (including container versions), and complexes of optoelectronic countermeasures. 100% of these products are manufactured by Pilkington Optronics, part of Thales.
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, according to the results of the first half of 2019, the revenue of the sphere of information and telecommunication technologies (ICT) reached 140 billion drams (about $ 290 million), exceeding the indicator of the previous year by 3.9%.
