ArmInfo. From September 2 to 6, 2019, the volume of transactions at the currency interbank market of Armenia decreased by 4.7%, after a decline of 19.5% a week earlier.
At the same time, the dynamics of dollar transactions was in decline in the intra-bank foreign exchange market, ruble operations remained in downtrend, and the previous upward trend in euro transactions changed for diverse dynamics with accelerated growth in terms of sales. Stock exchange platform remains empty.
As a result, the dram against the dollar for September 2-6, compared with the previous week, continued to devaluate - from 476.3 to 476.8 AMD / $ 1, staying against the euro at 526 AMD / 1 EUR, remaining unchanged against the ruble on the level of 7.2 AMD / 1RUB. A year earlier, on September 6, 2018, the dram against the dollar was 484.3 AMD / $ 1, against the euro - 563 AMD / 1 EUR, and against the ruble - 7.1 AMD / 1 RUB, which in comparison with current rates indicates the y-o-y revaluation of dram to dollar and the euro, and the devaluation of the ruble.
According to the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia, on September 2-6, foreign exchange interbank transactions were carried out in the amount of $ 14.2 million at an average rate of 476.52 AMD / $ 1 (against 476.07 AMD / $ 1 a week earlier). Having worked daily during the reporting week, the currency interbank showed maximum volumes on Monday and Tuesday - $ 4.4 million and $ 4.7 million respectively. At the same time, compared to the previous week buying and selling of the dollar on the intra- bank foreign exchange market changed from 3.2-10% growth to 12-22.5% decline, euro buying turned the dynamics from 69% growth towards 17% decline while accelerating sales growth from 14.7% to 31.3% and in ruble transactions purchase accelerated decline from 4% to 10% with a slowdown in sales decline from 19.5% to 3.3%. As a result, $ 83.6 million was bought at an average rate of 475.62 AMD / $ 1, 20.5 million euros at an average rate of 522.25 AMD/ 1EUR, and 1.8 billion rubles at an average rate of 7.13 AMD / 1RUB, and sold $ 93.8 million at an average rate of 476.97 AMD / $ 1, 25.6 million euros at an average rate of 525.86 AMD/ 1EUR, and 725.4 million rubles at an average rate of 7.21 AMD/ 1RUB.
According to the source, from August 26 to 31, Armenian banks issued dram loans for 63.5 billion drams and dollar loans for $ 47.6 million. Compared to the previous period (from August 19 to 24), dram loans accelerated the decline from 2% to 17%, while dollar loans significantly slowed growth from 22% to 0.9%.
To note, for the first half of 2019, the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia in the foreign exchange market intervened only in March ($ 5 million), April ($ 56.650 million), May ($ 27 million) and June ($ 96.6 million), in particular purchasing a total of $ 185.250 million at the rate of 485.93 AMD / $ 1 in March, 482.85 AMD/ $ 1 in April, 479.88 AMD / $ 1 in May and 478.29 AMD / $ 1 in June. In the interbank foreign exchange market for the first half of 2019, $ 2.265 billion and 420.64 million euros were bought, and $ 2.408 billion and 520.7 million euros were sold. At the foreign exchange interbank for the first half of 2019, transactions in the amount of $ 421.56 million were carried out, which was accompanied by a revaluation of the dram from January 486.24 AMD / $ 1 to June 478.38 AMD / $ 1. Exchange currency platform in the first half of this year continued to be empty.
