ArmInfo. Removing barriers within the Eurasian Economic Union will be among the priorities of the Belarusian Chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Commission. This was announced on September 18 at the opening of the forum "Young Leaders of Eurasia: EAEU - Success Stories" by the head of the Main Directorate for Economic Integration of the Ministry of Economy of Belarus Aleksey Matsevilo.
Recalling that next year Armenia will transfer the chairmanship to the EEC of Belarus, he emphasized that the country's president, Alexander Lukashenko, will present the priorities of the republic for the next 4 years.
"But I, a an expert, will talk about some of the priority areas of our activity. Belarus will direct its efforts to removing obstacles within the union that arise faster than we manage to remove. Only in August of this year 7 new barriers arose, and we manage to remove 2- 3 per month. There is a negative balance, and this is more likely due to the fact that we are already fighting the consequences, not the causes, "said Matsevilo, adding that trade protectionism is one of those evils that create new barriers.
According to the Belarusian official, in this matter it is necessary to be guided not by short-term interests, but by long-term ones, since in a fleeting world, priorities change quickly. As an important condition for successful advancement, Matsevilo emphasized the importance of eliminating protectionism, developing a common national industry, and creating a common energy market. "Only a common vision of the future can ensure the successful development of an integration union, and until this happens, it is difficult to move anywhere," he said.
The representative of the Ministry of Economy of Belarus also pointed out the importance of studying and presenting the mentality of each member of the union when presenting a proposal or law in order to eliminate awkward situations or disagreements within the union.
Matsevilo also recalled that all decisions in the EAEU are taken by consensus, and the decision to join a new state in a single trade zone, the voice of each member of the union is decisive, which strengthens the national sovereignty of the member states of the union. "Today, there are a lot of people who want to join the EAEU trade zone, more than 30 countries have expressed a desire, but if one of the countries is against it, this will not happen. This increases the sovereignty of each of the countries members of the intellectual union," he noted.
In turn, Viktor Nazarenko, Minister of the EEC Technical Regulation Collegium, stated that after gaining independence, each country sought to trade with the whole world, but did not allow anyone to let itself in. "But as it turned out, it did not work out quickly to get rich due to many problems and the need to interact with partners," Nazarenko stated, recalling that the proposal was made by the then president to create a platform that would allow both preservation of sovereignty and economic development for the first time 25 years ago Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
According to him, a long enough time has passed for the realization of the need to create such an integration project, to develop its structure. "And, in the end, first 3, and then 5 countries decided to build a common competitive economic platform - this is a grandiose project, which this year is already celebrating its 5th anniversary. Today, the EAEU has a clear view of interaction with the outside world, inside the project Customs duties have been lifted, goods have been unhindered. In addition to customs regulations, there are also technical ones - a rather hot direction, 48 technical regulations have already been adopted, and 25 documents are ahead, <Nazarenko said, adding that the Union works according to international standards, which greatly simplifies interaction with third countries
He also spoke about the implementation of the digital economy and the digitalization of processes and procedures in the EAEU, which, according to him, is a complex process. At the end of his speech, he pointed out the importance of holding such events, as the young leaders of Eurasia will continue the path they have begun, and serious responsibility will be assigned to them.
The forum "Young Leaders of Eurasia" is organized by the North-South Political Science Center.
