ArmInfo. Spanish company Urbaser, expressed interest in the opportunity to enter the Armenian market. This was stated during a meeting with RA Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, a member of the Board of Management of Urbaser and former Executive Director of Electricite de France Henri Proglio .
According to the press service of the government, during the meeting the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of urban sanitation and waste management, transport and energy infrastructures. According to the source, the Deputy Prime Minister touched on the main political and economic reforms in Armenia over the past year and a half, the pace of economic growth, improving the business and investment environment, the government's work with investors. In turn, the head of Urbaser International Business, Ramon Rebuelta, presented the company's areas of activity in 22 countries.
It should be noted that according to the RA Statcommittee, the total accumulated investments of Spain in the economy of Armenia as of June 1 amounted to $ 3.6 million, of which FDI - $ 2.8 million. Over the past year and a half, Spanish investments in the Armenian economy have not been recorded.
The foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Spain in January-July 2019 decreased by 15.1% to $ 18.9mln. Exports showed an increase of 22.1%, amounting to only $ 384.5 thousand, with a decrease in imports by 15.6% to $ 18.5mn. In 2018, the foreign trade turnover between the countries increased by 0.8% to $ 37.2 million. At the same time, exports decreased by 77% to $ 393.9 thousand, against the background of growing imports - by 4.6% to $ 36.8 million.
