ArmInfo. The 15th international exhibition of high technologies DigitecExpo will be held in Armenia from October 6 to 9 at the Yerevan Expo center. On October 2, Minister of High Technology Industry Hakob Arshakyan stated this at a press conference. The exhibition is held under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
''DigitecExpo 2019 is one of the most important events in Armenia, where within one platform we can present the full potential of domestic IT companies at a high level. In fact, it is impossible to overestimate the importance of holding this event. This is another opportunity to represent Armenia as the technological center of the region'', he said. Arshakyan noted that this year 120 local and international companies will take part in the exhibition, in particular, Iran will be represented by a large pavilion, Malaysia, Taiwan and other countries will be represented.
He said that within the framework of DigitecExpo 2019, the Ministry provided assistance to engineering and startup companies for participating in the exhibition, particularly to those companies, involved in the production of electronics and equipment. ''Thus, we want to give them the opportunity to show their potential. This is the direction that is in the center of our attention, but today it is not developing adequately'', he emphasized.
This year, the exhibition, as the head of the department noted, will be held along with the World Congress IT-2019 (WCIT-2019), which will be visited by about 2 thousand guests from 60 countries. In addition, Arshakyan noted that within the framework of WCIT-2019, a round table is expected to be held with the participation of ministers from 20 countries, including Iran, Iraq, Egypt, the UAE, Qatar, Bulgaria, Romania, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Georgia, Greece, Malaysia, Lithuania, Brazil, Estonia, Lebanon, etc. In this regard, he noted that WCIT delegations will attend DigitecExpo 2019. In view of this, the Minister urged domestic IT companies to actively participate in DigitecExpo, since the exhibition is a unique opportunity to present and promote products to the international IT community.
To note, over the past 10 years, about 8 thousand guests attended the DigitecExpo exhibition. The official sponsor of DigitecExpo 2019 is the telecommunications company UCom, the partner is HackTech, and the PR partner is P-Art. Taking into account the large number of participants and guests, next year the organizers of the event intend to transfer the exhibition to the sport and concert complex named after Karen Demirchyan.
According to the Armenian statistics, in the first half of 2018, the revenue of the ICT sector of Armenia amounted to 135.3 billion drams ($ 280.6 million), with a y-o-y growth of 7.6%.
