ArmInfo. The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) is a good opportunity to discuss the prospects for cooperation between countries. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on October 7 at a meeting with the heads of official delegations participating in WCIT-2019 and international organizations.
The Prime Minister recalled that the development of the ICT sector is among the priorities of the Armenian government. In this context, the head of government expressed hope that such an important event as the World IT Congress in Armenia would become an important link in the development of the country's sector.
According to him, for the Republic of Armenia it is extremely important to be part of the global processes for the development of the IT field. "It's no secret that technology is very important for modern international relations, they connect people, diplomats and the states. This sector of the economy is the fastest growing one throughout the world," Pashinyan said.
However, according to Nikol Pashinyan, the IT sector cannot develop in isolation, in a single country and without effective international cooperation. "I am very glad that you are participating in this congress. I hope that you will be able to fulfill your mission - to establish multilateral cooperation with other companies and countries," the Prime Minister said, once again recalling the world-famous Armenian hospitality.
To note, the Congress has been organized since 1978 by the World Alliance of IT Associations (WITSA) and takes place every two years in different countries - since 2017 annually. WCIT is the world's largest IT event and gathers top managers of leading companies, heads of universities and research centers, as well as the highest representatives of the world's states. Organizer: World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), comprising nearly 80 IT industry associations covering more than 90% of the global IT market. WCIT delegates are world leaders in business, government, and academia, including heads of state, ministers, CEOs, IT sector leaders, capital investors, and academia.
The forum in Armenia is organized by the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises. This year, the theme of the WCIT 2019 World IT Forum is "The Power of Decentralization. Promise and Peril." The forum, from October 6 to 9, will discuss in detail how information and communication technologies are transforming our lives, both positively and negatively, what impact they have on profit and wealth, security and stability, democracy and humanism. More than 2500 participants from 70 countries are expected at the Yerevan forum. The forum is held in Armenia under high patronage and with the assistance of the RA Government.
