In January-September 2019, deflation in the consumer market of 2.1% was due to a decrease in the price of food products by 5.5%, with a rise in price of non-food products by 0.6% and an increase in tariffs for services by 0.9%.
As the RA Statistical Committee reported to ArmInfo in the, the average monthly decline in consumer prices in January-September 2019 amounted to 0.2%, against a decline of 0.1% a year earlier. In January- September 2019, compared with January-September 2018, 1.6% inflation was recorded in the consumer market due to a rise in price of food products by 2.6%, non-food products by 1.6% and increase in tariffs for services by 0.3%. In September 2019, compared with September 2018, 0.5% inflation in the consumer market was provoked by more expensive non-food products - by 2.4% and an increase in tariffs for services by 1.1%, while food products became cheaper by 0.8%.
It should be noted that in September 2018, the consumer market in Armenia recorded inflation of 0.3% due to a rise in price of food and non-food products by 1.1% and 0.4%, respectively, with a decrease in tariffs for services by 0.6%. In January-September 2018, deflation of 0.8% was due to a decrease in the cost of food products by 3%, with a rise in price for non-food products by 1.4% and an increase in tariffs for services by 0.7%. In January-September 2018, compared to January-September 2017, the consumer market recorded inflation of 2.6% due to a rise in price of food products by 2.6%, non-food products by 4.8% and increase in tariffs for services by 1.3% . In September 2018, compared with September 2017, a similar situation was observed: inflation of 3.5% in the consumer market was provoked by food products that went up in price by 5.3%, non-food products by 3.9% and an increase in tariffs for services by 0.7%.
