ArmInfo.I welcome the reforms that are being implemented in Armenia today. This was stated by the leader of the rock band System of a Down Serj Tankian at a press conference in Yerevan on October 9.
''We see that there is economic growth in the country. I have the impression that all indicators are improving, and this is good news. For a long time there were no such processes in Armenia. Not all countries of the world are able to reach such changes as Armenia, and I am glad that you took control of your destiny and were able to achieve changes'', the musician noted.
According to Tankian, he is not alone in his opinion. ''When I communicate with representatives of the Armenian Diaspora, I see that many of them are still encouraged. Many people consider returning to Armenia; some have already brought this intention into life. I am sure that changes in the republic to some extent affected the performance of the tourism sector. I am full of hope regarding the future of Armenia'', Tankian emphasized.
The rocker also admitted that he was seriously considering the possibility of acquiring housing in the republic. ''Last year, when I arrived in Armenia with my wife, I was interested in this issue, but then we could not find anything concrete. Now I'm still looking'', he said.
To recall, Serj Tankian repeatedly criticized the previous authorities of Armenia, addressing the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan through open letters. They, in particular, raised social and economic problems in Armenia.
The musician actively supported the "velvet revolution" of 2018, and arrived in Yerevan on the eve of the parliamentary vote regarding the candidacy of Nikol Pashinyan for the post of prime minister. In September of this year, he presented at the Toronto Film Festival a documentary directed by Garin Hovhannisyan about the velvet revolution in Armenia, "I'm Not Alone". Tankian acted as executive producer and author of the soundtrack for this movie.
