ArmInfo. The Freight volume in Armenia in January-August 2019 compared to the same period last year decreased by 54% - up to 8 938.2 thousand tons. Of these, 5 740.3 thousand tons (64.2% of the total) accounted for by road transport, with a y-o-y decline of 65%. This is evidenced by the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
According to statistical data, rail freight for the reporting period increased by 4.2% - up to 2,005 thousand tons. 1,180.8 thousand tons of natural gas was delivered via the main pipeline, which is 5% more than the same period last year. Air freight increased by 6.1% to 12.1 thousand tons. Freight turnover increased by 8.2% to 3,030.7 million tons-km. Passenger traffic during the reporting period increased by 4.3% - up to 126 508.8 thousand people, against a decline of 7.7% a year earlier. In particular, road transportation increased by 3.8% to 107.7 thousand people, rail transportation by 11% to 291.9 thousand people, air transportation of passengers by 27.7% to 2,392.4 thousand people, electric passenger transportation - by 5% up to 16 059 thousand people. Passenger turnover increased by 7.2% to 1.769.5 million passenger-km.
