ArmInfo. The metallurgical industry of Armenia in January- August 2019 turned the trend upward by 7.4% from the 16.4% decline a year earlier. This is evidenced by the data of the Statcommittee of the Republic of Armenia.
In particular, an improvement in annual dynamics was observed in the production of ferromolybdenum - with a yield of 2.5% decline in January-August 2018, a 16.7% increase in January-August 2019, with a volume of 4,960 tons. However, in August alone, ferromolybdenum production showed a 32.5% decline. A reversal to the upward trend was also recorded in the production of copper concentrate - with a yield of 19.9% decline by 7.9% growth, with a volume of 242 thousand tons in January-August 2019. And only in August, the volume of production of copper concentrate increased by 32%.
Acceleration of annual growth was observed in the production of molybdenum concentrate - from 0.8% in January-August 2018 to 28.7% in January-August 2019, with a volume of 9,666.7 tons. In August alone, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 29.3%.
At the same time, the deterioration in annual dynamics demonstrated the production of zinc concentrate - from 24.8% growth in the direction of decline by 5.6% to 7,471 tons. But only in August, zinc concentrate production increased by 22.3%.
The production of aluminum foil was still delayed in recession, having slightly accelerated the pace from 2.5% in January-August 2018 to 3% in January-August 2019, amounting to 20 635 tons. And only in August, the volume of aluminum foil production fell by 10.6%. The production of pipes and hollow sections in January-August 2019 increased by 11.5% per annum - up to 7 741 tons (against an increase of 3.2% a year earlier), but only in August a 2-fold increase was recorded.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA. Recall that the metallurgical industry of Armenia in 2018 reduced the volume of production by 23% per annum, against the 11.3% growth in 2017. In particular, ferromolybdenum production increased by 10.4%, molybdenum concentrate - by 1.4%, copper concentrate - by 25.9%, zinc concentrate - by 12.3%. At the same time, the production of aluminum foil decreased by 14.5%, aluminum rolled products - by 69.8%, steel pipes - by 3.5%, converter (blister) copper - by 26.7%.
