ArmInfo. In order to expand the geography of exports and increase the rating of Armenian wines, the Vine and Wine Foundation of Armenia (VWFA) will hold a series of events from October 31 to November 6 in the Canadian states of Quebec and Ontario. This is stated in the official message of VWFA.
In particular, from October 31 to November 2 in Montreal at the annual international exhibition of wine and alcoholic beverages La Grande Degustation de Montreal 2019, the Armenian pavilion will be represented by 32 types of wines from 9 wine companies. Annually 200 manufacturers from around the world and over 13 thousand visitors take part in the exhibition.
On November 4, at the initiative of VWFA and Ambassador of Armenia to Canada, Anahit Harutyunyan, an exhibition will be held at the Armenian diplomatic mission in Ottawa - a tasting of Armenian wines for representatives of diplomatic circles from different countries. Chairman of the Fund Zaruhi Muradyan will talk about the history, culture, features and potential of winemaking in Armenia. On November 6, in Toronto, leading journalist and sommelier John Shabo will hold a presentation of a tasting of Armenian wines for a highly specialized audience, who will have the opportunity to familiarize international distributors with the best types of Armenian wines.
It should be noted that, according to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in the first half of 2019, 5.7 million liters wine were produced in Armenia, which is 42.8% more than a year ago. According to the RA Customs Service, during the reporting period, Armenia exported 1.3 million liters wine, with annual growth of 16.5%, with a decrease in customs value by 1.5%. Traditionally, the main export market for Armenian wine is the Russian Federation (72.3%), followed by China (5%), Switzerland (4%), the USA (3.4%), Poland (2%), France (1, 8%), Italy (1.5%), Ukraine (1.2%), Georgia (1%).
