ArmInfo. The unemployment rate in Armenia, calculated by the new methodology, decreased over the Q2 of 2019 from 21.9% to 17.7%, against 20.2% a year earlier.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, the new calculation method does not take into account home- based workers.
According to the source, in the Q2 of 2019 the number of unemployed in Armenia amounted to 207.2 thousand people, with a y-o-y decline of 12.4%.
In September, the number of applications from employers amounted to 3997 (a y-o-y growth of 1.3 fold), with a load of 1 vacant seat in 21 people. (a decline of 27.6% per annum). In the same period, 1061 citizens managed to find a job (a y-o-y decline of 0.8%) or 1.3% of the total number of job seekers. Of those employed 310 people are men (with an increase of 6.2% per annum), and 751 people - women (y-o-y decline of 3.5%).
It should be noted that according to the forecast of the Central Bank of Armenia updated in September, the unemployment rate in 2019 will be 21.7% (calculated using the new methodology), with a subsequent y-o- y decline in the medium term by 0.1-0.2 percentage points to 20% .
