ArmInfo. Violation of generally accepted rules and norms of competition continues to be the most common type of violation in the economic activity of Armenia. Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia (SCPEC) Gegham Gevorgyan announced this on December 27.
Referring to the experience of European countries, Gevorgyan noted that there the proportion of violations related to unfair competition is at a low level, while in Armenia continues to prevail, in particular with regard to cases of misappropriation of a foreign brand, misleading the public, etc. According to him , on the fact of the revealed violations, legal proceedings were started.
In particular, as the head of the SCPEC noted, complaints regarding cases of unfair competition on an annualized basis increased by 10-15% (from 40 in 2018 to 53 in 2019). In addition, according to Gevorgyan, cases regarding the identification of abuse of monopoly positions and anti-competitive agreements increased 2.5 times over the year.
At the same time, in 2019, the SCPEC began to apply the measure of responsibility for representatives of state bodies for the first time. He emphasized that the complaints, which were not global in nature, concerned, including the judicial department, the Ministry of Healthcare and the Police. "We want to show that business entities can also contact us in case of complaints about representatives of state bodies, so we intend to form a new culture," the head of the SCPEC said.
