FinRating ArmInfo: the corporate component in the premium portfolios  of Armenian insurers is growing faster than the retail one

ArmInfo. Following the results of 9 months of 2022, the share of the corporate component in the premium portfolios of Armenian insurers, began to prevail over the  retail component even more - 53.8% (25.6 billion drams) against 46.2%  (21.97 billion drams) , while the gap was smaller in a similar  situation a year ago - 51.8% and 48.2%, respectively. According to  the Financial Rating of Insurance Companies of Armenia as of  September 30, 2022, prepared by ArmInfo, the capacity of the  corporate insurance market accelerated growth more noticeably, from  14% to 30.5%, than the capacity of the retail insurance market, from  10.2% to 20.1%.

Armenian insurance sector reports 35.5% increase in tax payments

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the online purchase of a Compulsory Motor Third Party Liability (CMTPL)  insurance is rapidly gaining popularity. According to the data of the  Car Insurance Bureau of Armenia, in the first quarter of 2020, the  number of CMTPL agreements signed in online mode reached 24,975, an  increase of 3.2-fold year on year, which increased their share in the  total number of CMTPL agreements from 3% to 11%.

Of this amount,  91.3% or 2.1 billion drams was paid on direct taxes (including income  tax and profit tax). ArmInfo. Armenian insurance companies refunded 11.98 billion drams for the 9 months of 2017 or $ 25.1 million for the various classes (figures are presented from the reports of the portfolios of the CB according to the standards of the Central Bank of Armenia). On an annual basis, insurers' reimbursements increased by 19.3%, against growth of 4.8% a year earlier. At the same time, the Armenian insurance premiums recorded an annual growth of 3.8% - up to 24.6 billion AMD or $ 51.3 million, against growth of 0.3% a year earlier. According to the Ranking of Insurance Companies of Armenia, prepared by IA ArmInfo, five companies provided annual growth of payments, the largest in RESO insurance companies - by 61.8% and Nairi Insurance - by 52.4%, and the only annual decline was fixed from Rosgosstrakh Armenia Insurance Company - by 0.6%.

ArmInfo. Armenia's insurance sector paid 1.6bln drams taxes or $3.3 mln for 9 months of 2016 with a 22.3% year over year growth.  Direct taxes  (including profit and incomes taxes) accounted for 1.5bln drams of total, which is 21% more than a year ago. Among insurance companies Rosgosstrakh-Armenia Insurance Company and INGO Armenia Insurance Company ensure almost 60% of payments to the state budget. The share of insurance companies in total payments of 1000 top taxpayers made 0.3%.

ArmInfo. Retail insurance accounted for 54% (5.2bln drams) of total premiums of the Armenian insurance companies for Q1 2016. Corporate insurance accounted for 46% (4.4bln drams) of total. Retail insurance market capacity fell from 19.7% to 25%, as corporate insurance increased from 12.9% to 27.8%. Before introduction of MTPL insurance and compulsory medial insurance of the staffs of the state-run enterprises in Armenia, the share of corporate insurance was prevailing over the retail one significantly.
