Chairman of Armenian CB: Inflow of private transfers into Armenia is growing
ArmInfo. Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Artur Javadyan has told ArmInfo that in Mar 2010 the index grew by 13.5%, in Feb 2010 - by 17%.
"It is important that in Jan-Mar 2010 the net growth of money transfers was at the same level as in Q1 2009," Javadyan said.
In response to the question that the amount of money transfers from Armenia is also growing, which means an outflow of money from the country, Javadyan said that when inflow is growing outflow should also grow.
To note, in 2009 the amount of private money transfers into Armenia decreased by 17% to 584bln AMD.
The transfers were carried out by means of 17 systems, particularly, UNIStream, Anelik, Contact, Money Gram, Migom.
As of 1 April 2010 the turnover of Anelik system totalled $19.7 mln, having increased by 17,2% as compared with Q1 2009. The biggest share of transfers in Armenia is still ensured at the expense of the inflow - $16.2 mln, whereas the money transfers from Armenia amounted to $3.5 mln in Q1 2010, having increased by 59% as compared with Q1 2009.
In Jan-Mar 2010 the turnover of UNIStream in Armenia grew by 2% to $91.1mln. In Jan 2010 the index totalled $22.4mln, in Feb - $30.7mln, Mar 2010 - $38mln. The share of money transfers into Armenia grew by 1% to $78.9mln. The amount of money transfers from Armenia totalled $12.2mln (10,198 transactions) - 9% more than in Q1 2009.
