Over April 2010 deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks declined by 4.6% to $1.7 bln
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks over April 2010 were up 25,7% as compared with April 2009, and
declined by 4,6% as compared with March 2010, having totaled 661.8 bln AMD ($1.7 bln) by 1 May 2010. In the structure of raised deposits, the share of deposits in Armenian dram was 24,5% or 162.2 bln AMD ($421.4 mln), the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 75,5% or $1.3 bln (499.6 bln AMD). The share of deposits in drams was up 1,5% in April 2010, and down 3.5% as compared with April 2009.
By preliminary data of Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits of non-residents was 17,4% or 115.2 bln AMD (8,3% decline in April, 13% annual growth), including 7.6 bln AMD (1,5% growth in April, 10% annual growth). The share of deposits of non-residents in foreign exchange totaled 107.6 bln AMD (8,9% decline in April, 13,1% annual growth).
Deposits of residents made up 82,6% or 546.6 bln AMD, including 154.6 bln AMD deposits in terms of Armenian dram (1,6% decline in April, 9,8% annual growth). Deposits of residents in foreign exchange totaled 392 bln drams (5,8% decline in April, 38,2% annual growth). The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 38,4% or 209.9 bln AMD (10,4% decline in April), the share of time deposits was 61,6% or 336.6 bln AMD (0,7% growth in April). Call liabilities
in drams grew by 1,3% (21,8% annual growth) to 94.7 bln AMD, whereas call liabilities in foreign currency fell by 18,1% (38,4% annual growth) to 115.2 bln AMD. Time deposits in drams grew by 1,8% to 59.8 bln AMD, whereas time deposits in foreign exchange grew by 0,4% to 276.8 bln AMD.
Balance of population deposits as of May 1 2010 totaled 307.6 bln AMD, having declined by 2% as compared with March 2010, and grew by 35,1% as compared with April 2009. Time deposits of the population declined by 1,9% in April 2010 as compared with March 2010, and grew by 33,3% to 230.4 bln AMD as compared with April 2009.
In April 2010 interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were up from 8,54% to 9,08%, and by 0.9% as compared with April 2009.
